When I first embraced Islam in 2002, my heart yearned to understand the Qur’an—not just its recitation, but its meaning, word by word. I didn’t come from an Arabic-speaking background, and although I dreamed of studying classical Arabic one day, life’s responsibilities made it a challenge. Still, I held on to the hope that the Qur’an could become personal, close, and clear—even in a language I understood.
That hope began to take shape when I was blessed to study the Taleem al-Qur’an Diploma Course in 2004 under Dr. Farhat Hashmi at Al Huda International in Dubai. Her unique approach to word-by-word understanding of the Qur’an, especially in English and Urdu, changed everything for me. It was a method that brought me closer to the Book of Allah, page by page, word by word.
This book, Around the Qur’an: Word-by-Word Translation of Juz Amma, is my humble attempt to share that approach. I compiled this book with new Muslims, students, and anyone with a sincere desire to understand the Qur’an in mind. Whether you’re just beginning or returning to the Qur’an, this book is a practical guide to help you learn, memorize, and internalize the translation—word by word.
It is not a scholarly tafsir book. It is a bridge—a starting point. A stepping stone for those who want to journey into the Qur’an with clarity and confidence. I encourage you to read the translations regularly, repeat them, reflect deeply and memorize it. In time, you will find that even as you listen to the Qur’an recitation, the meaning will echo in your heart.
May this effort benefit you as it did me, and may it be a source of continuous reward for all who use it.
