Humanist pedagogy is an educational approach that places humans as
the main focus. In the view of humanist pedagogy, the main goal of education
is not only to transfer knowledge, but also to develop the full potential of each
individual. This means recognizing and appreciating the uniqueness and
diversity of each student. One important aspect of humanist pedagogy is the
development of character and moral values. Through this education, students
not only learn about academic concepts, but also about the importance of
integrity, empathy, and social responsibility. Students are invited to consider
the impact of their actions on other people and the environment.
Humanist pedagogy also encourages student-centered learning. This
means that education is not only about what teachers teach, but also about what
students learn. In a humanist learning environment, students are encouraged
to be actively involved in the learning process, ask questions, think critically,
and participate in discussions. Teachers act as facilitators who guide and
support students in their search for knowledge and understanding.
This book is expected to be able to provide comprehensive knowledge
about humanist pedagogy, as well as how to conceptually, theoretically and
apply it to respond to various issues in education.
