This book was born out of a simple, but profound anxiety. Why does the economy often feel so far removed from our daily lives? Every day we work, shop, pay the fare, or simply count the rest of the money in the wallet. But when the word “economy” is mentioned, our shadows immediately drift to hard-to-understand statistics, growth charts, or thick reports. The economy seems to belong only to experts, bureaucrats, and market analysts.
Even though behind the number there is a real human face. There are farmers whose harvests are priced cheaply, laborers whose wages are extorted, students who struggle to pay tuition, and families who are anxious about the price of basic necessities. The economy is not something neutral, but rather an arena of power: who dominates, who is sacrificed, who benefits, and who is left behind. When we read economics only as numbers, we are ignoring the fact that it concerns the lives of many people.
This book invites us to look at economics from another side, not just numbers, but the story of struggle. He invites readers beyond statistics and technical jargon, towards the understanding that economics is always related to politics, culture, and partisanship. In each chapter, we will explore how economic discourse is formed, how injustice is nurtured, and how solutions can be imagined. Not to give in to pessimism, but to find hope through solidarity.
